FINAL T-BALL GAME TOMORROW...

So Noah's first season of t-ball is over tomorrow...how sad!!! He has enjoyed it so much, and so have we. He has definitely improved drastically...

I know that he has a true passion for playing t-ball, and hopefully it will carry over every year! He was also chosen by his coaches to play in the All-Star game tomorrow night. How cool is that????? First year ever playing t-ball, and he is playing with some kids who are in their second and third year, and he gets chosen to be on the All-Star team. I am so PROUD of my little slugger!!!!!

So tomorrow, it's the final t-ball game at 12, pizza party and awards at 1:30, then All-Star game at 5...so we will be busy all day!!! Hope Ethan and Christopher do well!

What happened to our little town????????

Parolee Behind Bars in Fatal Stabbing at Fallbrook Gas Station

A parolee was in custody Thursday on suspicion of fatally stabbing a man while stealing his backpack at a gas station in Fallbrook, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Travis Sean Hopkins, 25, allegedly attacked William Baker Jr., 23, of Fallbrook, in the 900 block of East Mission Road around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, sheriff's homicide Sgt. David Martinez said.

Baker died at the scene.

Hopkins and a woman fled in a vehicle but were caught in Oceanside at the end of a pursuit, Martinez said.

Hopkins was booked into Vista Detention Facility on suspicion of murder, robbery and violating his parole. He was held without bail pending an arraignment hearing scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Carmina Marie Bunnel, 25, was detained, questioned and released, Martinez said.

THIS IS PRETTY SCARY...NOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO LOOK OVER OUR SHOULDER WHEN WE GO TO THE GAS STATION????? WHAT'S HAPPENING TO FALLBROOK??? THIS IS THE SECOND FATAL STABBING IN TWO MONTHS....

4 month shots!!

The boys had their 4 month check-up today...which means shots...NOT FUN!

Ethan weighs 11lbs 5oz and is 24 inches long, amazing considering this lil one came into the world weighing 3lbs 9oz and only 15 3/4 inches.

Christopher weighs 12lbs 6oz and is 24 1/2 inches long. He weighed 4lbs 3oz at birth and was 16 1/4 inches long.

I am so amazed at how far my miracles have come...they are so inspiring!!!

We also got the go ahead to let them start sleeping through the night!! Which I can't wait for, even though I know I will be up numerous times a night to check on them!!!

We have to go see an orthopedist for Christopher's leg, it is turning out and they want to make sure nothing is wrong with his hip. So say a prayer that everything is ok! Other than that, the boys are doing great!

Oh yeah, the shots were ok too, gave them some tylenol before, fed them after, and now they are sound asleep!!!

Mother's Day 2008

It was such a nice day, to be able to spend it with my three lovely boys, two being my little miracles!! We went to a Padre game. Noah is SO into baseball lately, and it was so nice to be able to see his reaction at being at a REAL baseball game. Ethan and Christopher were in their little Chicco carriers, and they slept the whole game!!

It was such a blast!! From the yummy food Noah just had to try...hot dogs, nachos, a pretzel, and some cotton candy...what's a baseball game without them? To top it off the Padres won!! Yay!

So Happy Mother's day, belated!!!!!!

So far, so good!

Well, it is day 2 of our schedule change, and to my surprise, they boys are doing GREAT!!! Yesterday they were at every 4 hours, I stretched it to every 5 hours. Well today, they were still sleeping at the 5 hour mark, so I let them sleep another hour. So they are basically eating every 6 hours now!! No problems either. They eat at 11 and 5, am and pm. So its nice having them on a schedule again and being able to plan outings...it was definitely worth my one day of stressing to get them on a better schedule for them.

Also, I replaced ALL of their bottles with glass ones. We were using avent ones, they are not marked with a number, but after researching it, I found out they were a number 7, VERY BAD...

I called Babies R US where I bought them, and told them why I didn't want to use them, and they let me return them without a problem. I was going to purchase the BornFree bottles, made from polypropylene, but they were SOLD OUT! Those were kind of pricey anyways, and with twins the price would have been astronomical. So I looked around the baby bottle area and found that Evenflo makes glass bottles. So I bought those, and they were very reasonable in price! $4.99 for three bottles!!!!!!

So today was a great day! We are no longer feeding our kids chemicals, the boys are on a GREAT schedule, and oh yeah, its my birthday!!!!

THATS IT!

I AM GOING OUT TODAY, AFTER DOING MANY HOURS RESEARCH ON THE COMPUTER LAST NIGHT, AND BUYING NEW BOTTLES AND A NEW SIPPER CUP FOR NOAH FOR THE CAR. THIS IS TOO DANGEROUS TO CHANCE. I FOUND GREAT DEALS ON GLASS BOTTLES AT AMAZON.COM AND AT DIAPERS.COM THEY HAVE POLYPROPYLENE BOTTLES, BPA FREE, MADE FROM #5 PLASTIC WHICH IS SAFE. I AM ALSO GOING TO CONTACT AVENT, WHOSE BOTTLES I CURRENTLY USE AND GIVE THEM A PIECE OF MY MIND, AS THEIR BOTTLES ARE NOT EVEN NUMBERED,SO HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT THEY ARE MADE OF??????????

Dangerous BPA

I am seriously going to invest in some glass bottles...as soon as I find somewhere that sells them. I also am getting rid of Noah's sippy cups, tupperware(going to invest in some glass pyrex).

The amount of dangerous bisphenol A (BPA) that leaches from plastic bottles into the drinks they contain is most dependent on the liquid's temperature, according to new research. When both new and used polycarbonate drinking bottles were exposed to boiling hot water, BPA was released 55 times more rapidly.

BPA an endocrine disruptor which mimics your body's natural hormones. Hormones serve different functions throughout your body. BPA has been shown to affect reproduction and brain development.

The increased release of BPA continued even after the hot liquid was removed, meaning that even washing plastic cups or bottles in a hot dishwasher could lead to increased BPA content in cold drinks.

According to a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study, BPA was detected in the urine of 95 percent of the people tested. Scientists have also measured BPA in the blood, umbilical cord and placenta of pregnant women, finding all were at levels that have demonstrated altered fetal development in animals.

Clearly, our widespread use and reliance on the convenience of plastic products is now catching up with us.

Fortunately, the reality is starting to hit home, and changes can be seen here and there. One large Canadian retailer decided to remove the wildly popular Nalgene plastic water containers from their stores, for example, due to concerns about BPA.

What’s the Problem With BPA?

BPA mimics the sex hormone estradiol (estrogen), which can trigger major changes in your body. Of 115 published animal studies, 81 percent found significant effects from even low-level exposure to BPA.

Interestingly enough, NONE of the 11 industry-funded studies found any significant effects, whereas 90 percent of the government-funded studies did. Yet another piece of “coincidental evidence” that shows the power of money. Always check who funded the study before drawing your final conclusions about the results.

According to the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy’s Smart Plastics Guide, adverse effects from BPA exposure include:

Structural damage to your brain
Hyperactivity, increased aggressiveness, and impaired learning
Increased fat formation and risk of obesity
Altered immune function
Early puberty, stimulation of mammary gland development, disrupted reproductive cycles, and ovarian dysfunction
Changes in gender-specific behavior, and abnormal sexual behavior
Stimulation of prostate cancer cells
Increased prostate size, and decreased sperm production
Who’s at Greatest Risk?

According to Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, the sharpest warning goes out to women of childbearing age. Early-life exposure can lead to genetic damage, as BPA causes chromosomal errors at even low levels.

These chromosomal errors in the developing fetus can also lead to spontaneous miscarriages.

BPA caught researchers’ attention after normal mice began to display uncommon genetic abnormalities. The defects were linked to plastic cages and water bottles that had been cleaned with a harsh detergent, causing BPA to leach out of the plastic. After determining how much BPA the mice had been exposed to, they realized that even an extremely small dose of 20 parts per billion daily, for just five to seven days, was enough to produce effects.

Heat Releases More Toxin

The problem with BPA is that it doesn’t stay put in the plastic. It leeches into whatever food or beverage you put in a plastic container, canned goods, or plastic baby bottle.

And if you microwave the containers or bottles, or put hot liquids or foods into them, you increase the amount of BPA that leaches into your food or drink 55 times faster than when used cold!

Hopefully that’s enough food for thought to help you decide it’s time to switch that plastic coffee mug you lug around to something else.

10 Tips to Reduce Your Exposure to BPA

To be fair, you probably can’t completely eliminate your exposure to BPA any longer, since it’s likely in our air, water, and food, too, but you can certainly reduce it.

The following tips will not only reduce your exposure to BPA, but also to many of the other dangerous plastics chemicals as well.

1. Only use glass baby bottles and dishes for your baby

2. Give your baby natural fabric toys instead of plastic ones

3. Store your food and beverages in glass -- NOT plastic -- containers

4. IF you choose to use a microwave, don’t microwave food in a plastic container

5. Stop buying and consuming canned foods and drinks

6. Avoid using plastic wrap (and never microwave anything covered in it)

7. Get rid of your plastic dishes and cups, and replace them with glass varieties

8. If you opt to use plastic kitchenware, at least get rid of the older, scratched-up varieties, avoid putting them in the dishwasher, and don’t wash them with harsh detergents, as these things can cause more chemicals to leach into your food

9. Avoid using bottled water; filter your own using a reverse osmosis filter instead

10. Before allowing a dental sealant to be applied to you, or your children’s teeth, ask your dentist to verify that it does not contain BPA

In the event that you do opt to use plastic containers for your food, be sure to avoid those marked on the bottom with the recycling label No. 7, (which looks like this ) as these varieties may contain BPA.

Containers marked with the recycling labels No. 1, No. 2, and No. 4 do not contain BPA, but they do contain other unsavory chemicals that you’re best off avoiding as well. The Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy’s Smart Plastics Guide offers more detailed descriptions of the most commonly occurring chemicals in plastic products. They also offer this handy reminder:

"With your food, use 4, 5, 1 and 2. All the rest aren't good for you."

The website Mother Jones also offers a handy chart that you can cut out and stick on your refrigerator.

trouble...

Well the boys are growing....duh....which means they are eating more...duh...which means their schedule I work so hard at maintaining is changing...

I have stayed on the every four hours RELIGIOUSLY, since they came home from the NICU, never varying...today, with the help and encouragement from their pediatrician...we are upping them from 5oz every 4hours...to seven every five hour, with the intent to spread them out to every six hours in the weeks to come. The boys were due to eat at 1pm today and they held off til 2pm, making it the five hours from their 9am feeding. Then they both gulped down the 7oz no problem. So like the pediatrician said, it's going to be harder for me than the twins...I don't like change too much.

But the boys were troopers and surprised me. Let's hope they can continue on this path of least resistance and just go with the flow. HA!

Long overdue....PICTURES!!!!

I TOLD YOU I WOULD FINALLY GET SOME NEW PICTURES UP!!! WE STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN OUR FAMILY PORTRAITS BACK YET.

GRRRR....

We went to my brothers house this morning with the boys, and the neighbors were having a garage sale. My brother and sister-in-law were over there chatting, so we walked over with the boys. They were stil in their carseats, sunshade covering them. They had many admirers, but one took it too far. After staring at them for about 2 minutes, she decides she wants to TOUCH the boys. She reaches her hand in and starts touching Christopher's foot. I grabbed the car seat and pulled it back and said, "Don't touch please." She got all mad and stormed off.

Now, tell me why, random strangers, feel it is ok to touch my children without permission? I would never in a million years reach into a carseat, moving the sunshade, to touch someone's child without permission.

This, however, seems to be a regular occurence on outings with the boys. It makes me wonder if people would be so interested if they weren't twins?????

Family Pix!

We went and had our family portrait taken on Sunday. It was so precious!! We also got some really cute pix of Noah, Ethan, and Christopher. As soon as we get them I will post some for all of you!

The boys are growing!!

I took the boys to the doctor for a weight check on Weds. I knew they had grown, but I was so surprised at how much they both weigh now.

My little peanut, Ethan, weighed in at 10lbs 12oz!!!!!!!!

My fat chuncky, Christopher, weighed in at 11lbs 3oz!!!

This is so amazing considering they started at 3lbs 9oz, and 4lbs 3oz respectively.

These boys are such an inspirtation, and even at 1am during their feeding, they are so precious. We truly are enjoying EVERY minute with them, because we know they are growing right before our eyes...

This crazy, chaotic thing called LIFE

I know it has been a while since I put new pix of the boys up, believe me though, I have been taking TONS!!! I will definitely have some up by this weekend!!!
